Routine Preventive Care

Regular visits to the dentist have been proven to help prevent dental decay and periodontal (gum) disease. Our Family Dentists and Hygiene Team work together to monitor your dental health and perform preventive treatments to help keep your smile healthy.

We recommend that patients visit our office every 3-6 months for routine checkups, cleanings and periodontal maintenance. At this visit, our dentists will perform a thorough dental examination and take any necessary digital xrays to evaluate the condition of your teeth and jaw joints. We may recommend fluoride treatments or dental sealants for your child to help prevent tooth decay.

Prevention is the key to keeping your smile healthy.

As part of your dental examination, your family dentist and hygienist will measure your gums to look for signs of periodontal (gum) disease and provide tips for effective home care. If left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to tooth loss and infection.

velscope oral cancer screening system

Oral Cancer is a growing health concern in the U.S. At each adult preventive visit, Dr. Webb or Dr. Funderburk will conduct an oral cancer screening and advise you of the latest research and health news about this life-threatening disease.

Your Child's First Visit to the Dentist

We want your child's first trip to the dentist to be fun! We will welcome them as if we are embarking on a new adventure together, and teach them all about what we do. They will learn about oral health and preventing tooth decay.

Our pace is always based on your child's interest and comfort level; sometimes we just go for a ride in the “spaceship” (dental chair), or, have them hold “Mr. Thirsty” (the suction) as we clean their teeth. Our goal is to create a great experience so they look forward to coming back to see us again!
